Tristan Harris 26th Aug, 2017   0

THERE will be a festival of history at Harvington Hall this bank holiday weekend.

Between 11.30am and 4pm on Sunday and Monday, August 27 and 28, the museum will be celebrating different eras of the nation’s past, including The Battle of Agincourt, the Wars of the Roses and Elizabethan England.

Visitors will be able to feast their eyes on a working Tudor kitchen, visit a regency picnic and immerse themselves through the World Wars.

Among the characters being showcased will be Medieval mercenaries, Tudor dancers, Elizabethan musketeers, Georgian gentlemen and soldiers of the World Wars.

Guided tours of the hall will run throughout the day, which will reveal the remarkable secret priests’ hides of the 16th century, many made by the ingenious craftsman Nicholas Owen.

There will also be opportunity to view the hall’s rare Elizabethan wall paintings and the Moatside Tea Room will be open between 11.30am and 5pm, serving light lunches and homemade cakes.

Archery and musketry demonstrations are weather dependent.
