THE FAMILY of Jay Old who died after an incident at Bromsgrove’s Dog and Pheasant pub on Saturday night have paid tribute to ‘their much-loved son, dad, brother, uncle, fiance, brother-in-law and friend to many’.

Jay, who was 47 and an avid Aston Villa fan, collapsed following the incident around 8.50pm.

He was taken to hospital but later died.

His heartbroken fiance Corinne Murphy said: “Jay was my absolute world. I love him so much with all my heart.

“The pain is unbearable.

“Jay gave me the life I always dreamed of and much more.

“He filled up our lives together with fun laughter and crazy days.

“Many at Villa Park where we shared a passion.”

Corinne said she would hold onto the many happy memories they shared together, adding he would be forever in her heart.

The family added through a statement: “We would like to thank everyone for all their love and support shown.

“Jay was a much-loved son, dad, brother, uncle, fiance and brother-in-law, a friend to many.

“We will, as soon as we can, advise everyone of arrangements as I’m sure you will appreciate this a sad time for all the family.

“He will forever be ‘our Jay’.”

A 52-year-old from Derby, a 25-year-old man from Derby and a 48-year-old man from Telford were all arrested on suspicion of affray following the incident.

They were subsequently arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and have since been bailed until the beginning of May while investigations continue.

Det Insp Sarah Squires from West Mercia Police said: “We’re continuing our investigations to establish how Mr Olds died. We initially responded to a report of an altercation at the pub.

“At this time we believe he died some time after the disturbance had calmed down.

“An initial post mortem has taken place but further tests are required.

“We’re hoping that these tests will provide more information about how Mr Olds died and to what extent, if any, the altercation contributed in his death.”

Witnesses or anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
