THE COUNTY’S first ever aqua park is set to open in Upton Warren this summer.

The Aqua Park at the Aztec Adventure Centre on Worcester Road, will open on July 6, offering a floating obstacle course with slides, trampolines and more, suitable for both adults and children.

The park is currently recruiting lifeguards which will be employed on a seasonal and casual basis.

After receiving £14,397 in funding from Worcestershire County Council as part of its LEADER programme, Aztec Adventure was able to go forward with plans for the county’s one-of-a-kind park.

More than £605,000 has been invested into 24 Worcestershire businesses to date through the programme since it was set up two years ago.

The investment has meant the creation of extra jobs also, with up to 80 new positions expected to be created by the end of 2019 across all the companies.

Craig Spence, Director of Aztec Adventure, said: “LEADER has been extremely supportive with our business venture. They’ve given us the opportunity to launch Worcestershire’s first ever water park.

“We took on the activity centre from Worcestershire County Council three years ago and since then we have been thinking about new ideas to make money.

“We shared the waterpark on our Facebook page and received half a million views in 72 hours.

“If I had to give advice to other businesses wishing to apply, I would tell them to go for it. We were opened minded to whether we would have got anything.

“Now thanks to LEADER we have made our dreams a reality.”
