A WELLBEING coach at Cofton Park Manor care home has been shortlisted in the Stars of Social Care awards, writes Stan Mills.

Gail Bessent, from the home in Cofton Hackett is a finalist in the Activities Coordinator category due to her hard work and dedication.

The winners will be revealed at a ceremony in London on June 13 which will bring together outstanding professionals from different sectors and from across the country.

Gail said:”It’s amazing news, especially when the competition is so strong.

“I didn’t come into this job to win awards – it’s all about the people and caring for them at a time when they need it most.

“To be recognised for doing something I truly care about is very special.”

Gail, who has worked at the Lickey Road home since 2022, focuses on residents’ quality of life by organising activities as well as emotional support.

Home manager, Kerry Hill said everyone was very proud of Gail and were delighted she had been shortlisted for the prestigious award.

“Gail has bundles of passion, warmth and creativity and everyday she makes a significant difference to residents, helping to create a wonderful home for everyone.”

The organisers of the Stars of Social Care Awards say they are designed to not only recognise outstanding achievements but also to raise awareness of the vital role care workers play in people’s lives.

They added the awards event honoured people across many sectors of care who demonstrated exceptional commitment and made a lasting impact on the lives of others.
