THE SUCCESS of Clent Connect and its positive impact on the community was celebrated during a special event on Saturday.
Around 150 people came together for the occasion which was also a way of thanking everyone who had played their part in building such a strong community.
Refreshments included special-themed cupcakes and Andrew, a magician and balloon expert, and face-painter Nicola entertained the children.
All activities were provided free by Clent Connect, across the shop, cafe, litter-picking team, newsletter delivery and other roles. There is even a ‘driver’ to collect those needing transport so they can join in with the activities.
Clent Connect wants to thank its many volunteers, Clent Parish Hall trustees, Clent Parish Council, Bromsgrove District Council and everyone who gives their time, energy and skills free of charge.
Bonnie Harvey – one of the board members – said: “We are extremely proud to share that Clent Connect now enables more than 1,250 face to face social connections every month – thereby helping to reduce isolation and loneliness, which is one of the main reasons why Clent connect was originally set up post-Covid.
“The feedback from the everyone is amazing and it really seems to have made a difference to people’s lives”
A new visitor John said:
“We love the cafe and shop here and the sense of community that we don’t see elsewhere.”
Dick and Buffy, supporters of Clent Connect from the beginning, added:
“It’s so lovely to see the younger children wanting to come and visit Clent Connect it’s so important to get more inter-generational socialization happening in the village as it makes for a better future.”
