BROMSGROVE District Council’s chairman raised hundreds of pounds for a town charity through a comedy fundraiser.

Organised by Coun Sam Evans, the night saw comedians perform on stage for guests, lighting up the room with laughter.

The headline act of the night was Ian Crawford, supported by Damon Conlan and Jonathan Hipkiss.

The Basement Project is the chairman’s chosen charity.

Coun Evans said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in, and contributed to, the evening.

“The Basement Project provides vital care and support across Bromsgrove, and I am very proud that they are my chosen charity for my term as Chairman.

“The total of £695 raised will help towards the continued support of young people experiencing issues or problems in and around our district.”

CEO of The Basement Project, Caleb Mallard, added: “We are so grateful to be chosen as the Chairman’s charity this year. It is especially meaningful to be recognised as a local charity working in the community.

“The evening was great fun with some top comedy, leaving us laughing out loud! Thanks to all who came and to Coun Evans for organising.”
