A BROMSGROVE author says she hopes many people will relate to the scenarios in her debut novel which is released on Monday, October 18.

Lead character Rob Lawson crept into Fiona Partridge’s head 15 years ago and during lockdown, when her holistic therapy business temporarily closed, she finally had the time to write ‘The Colour of Marriage’.

Set locally, including at Sanders Park, the Boat Shack, Upton Warren, and The Mint Lounge, it centres on Worcester University marketing graduate Rob who marries his teenage sweetheart Annie.

Billed as a ‘gripping story of love, family life, loss, regret and redemption’ it explores what happens when children sap the energy and romance from a strong relationship.

Twists and turns ensue before the story’s moving conclusion.

Fiona said: “The book offers appeal for so many people, who will relate to different scenarios in it.

“It’s all about choices and every one of us makes choices every day without knowing (or even thinking about) what the future consequences might be.

“Messing up and sometimes making the wrong choices is part of life.

“My book is an exploration of the journey that follows the reality of a poor life choice and the understanding it brings.”

Four publishers offered Fiona a contract and several suggested it had potential as a future film but she self-published with Bristol-based SilverWood Books to have greater control.

The official launch on Facebook Live – facebook.com/FionaPartridgeAuthor – is at 10.30am on Monday, October 18.

Priced at £10.99, the first 300 copies sold via fionapartridge.co.uk will feature a personalised signed note from Fiona.

The book will also be available from WH Smith, Waterstones, SilverWood Books,  independent booksellers and Amazon where an e-book is also available, priced at £4.50.
