Bogus caller steals woman's purse in Rubery

POLICE are hunting a thief who carried out a distraction burglary in Rubery on Tuesday evening (August 23).

It happened in New Inns Lane when a man called at a property claiming to be the nephew of the person who had recently bought the house next door.

He asked for a piece of paper so he could leave a note but whilst the person went back inside to get it, he nipped in and took the victim’s purse from the front room which contained a small amount of cash.

The victim was not injured but was shaken by the incident.




The man was white, around 5ft 7ins tall and of slim build. He had short dark hair and wore dark clothing.

Witnesses or anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
