RESIDENTS across Bromsgrove, Rubery and south Birmingham have expressed their frustration about postal delivery services in their areas.
The Standard has been contacted by several people from multiple areas, asking us to look into what was happening with their mail.
Some people in Bromsgrove, Rubery, Frankley, Longbridge, Rednal and Northfield. (postcodes B60, B61, B45 and B31) said they had not had deliveries in days or sometimes weeks, while others said when they did get post, they had a large number of letters at once – sometimes between five and seven – and then nothing for more days or weeks.
One person who contacted us said angry residents from Rubery and Bromsgrove were having to pick up post from sorting offices after waiting weeks for important mail.
And another man from Stoke Heath in Bromsgrove said: “We have received seven letters, some quite old, and three circulars this morning, the first post for some while.”
Some people in Rubery said they had received parcels but no letters and others said they had ‘not had any post whatsoever since Christmas’.
A 70-year-old woman from Northfield got in touch to say she had waited ages for a hospital appointment and then, when the letter came, it was one she had to confirm within 14 days of it being posted.
Unfortunately, that time had elapsed and she lost the appointment.

People also praised their ‘posties’ in their areas and aimed their criticism towards Royal Mail and the delivery system.
After reports in our sister papers in Redditch and Worcester about their MPs (Malvern and Pershore) of MPs in those areas, we contacted Bromsgrove MP Bradley Thomas’ team.
They said Mr Thomas had received reports of no post and delayed letters and he had been raising them each on an individual basis.
Northfield MP Lawrence Turner posted on social media: “I’ve been raising postal delays directly with Royal Mail and I’ve raised the problems in some parts of the constituency in Parliament
“I know some people face unacceptable and stressful delays as they wait for important letters and parcels.
“This isn’t the fault of ordinary posties – Royal Mail as an organisation need to get a grip on the situation.
“I am due to meet Royal Mail soon.”
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “Severe weather conditions and resourcing challenges have had an impact on deliveries in the last two weeks.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and our posties are going above and beyond to ensure deliveries return to normal as quickly as possible.”
