Armed robbery carried out at Belbroughton shop for the second time in 12 days

AN ARMED robbery was carried out on a convenience store in Belbroughton for the second time in a fortnight.

Three masked men burst into McColls on the village’s High Street, threatening a female member of staff at knifepoint to open the safe.

A male worker was also threatened with the blade during the incident at 9.30pm on Sunday (November 6) before the raiders escaped with a quantity of cash and cigarettes.

As they left the store they threatened a shopper with the knife and then fled in a silver car – believed to have been an Audi – which was parked up by the Horseshoe pub.

No-one was injured during the incident but those involved were extremely shaken up.

Officers investigating the incident want to hear from anyone who was in the area on Sunday night and saw anything suspicious or from anyone with any information on the incident.

DC Rebecca Wittin said: “Thankfully no-one was injured during this incident but it was a frightening experience for everyone involved.

We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it, or has any information which would help.

This is the second incident at the location recently, and we are considering whether there are any links between the two.

“We are, of course very keen to find those responsible and bring them to justice. ”

On October 27 five men, all wearing balaclavas stole cash and cigarettes – on that occasion they were armed with hammers and a baseball bat.

Anyone with information should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
