TICKETS for this year’s pantomime, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ to be held at The Core at Artrix, are now on sale.

The new temporary venue will not only play host this year’s pantomime, but also a number of other shows which were due to be held at The Core Theatre in Solihull.

The Core was forced to close its auditorium following the discovery of RAAC concrete. With several of its scheduled shows potentially in jeopardy, talks opened between The Core and The Artrix Holding Trust in a bid to move some of the performances to the Bromsgrove venue.

The Core at Artrix will officially open for performances on Thursday November 9, with performances of the pantomime starting on December 15.

Coun Karen Grinsell, deputy leader of Solihull Council, said: “I am thrilled we have been able to secure this partnership with Artrix, and present The Core at Artrix.

“This is not only wonderful news for our regular Core Theatre audience, but also for theatre-goers across the region, particularly those in Bromsgrove who have been keen to see Artrix revived.

“I know how much hard work, love and dedication goes into theatre and musical productions, and am so pleased we have a wonderful venue to host them while work continues in The Core Theatre auditorium.

“I am sure audiences of all ages will thoroughly enjoy the upcoming programme at The Core at Artrix.”

Anita Dale, chairman of Artrix Holding Trust, added: “It is fantastic Artrix will be welcoming audiences once again. It is a fabulous venue, which we have long wanted to see return to its former glory.

“This partnership with Solihull’s Core Theatre will truly reignite the theatre scene in Bromsgrove, and I can’t wait to see audiences filling the seats once again.”

Kyle Disley, chairman of Bromsgrove Community Arts, added: “The team at Bromsgrove Community Arts are looking forward to working with The Core Theatre and welcoming audiences back to Artrix when shows begin.

“We are delighted to be supporting the productions with a team of volunteers covering the front of house and the bar. Everyone is so very excited that our much-loved local arts centre is being brought back to life and the doors are open again.”
