A FRANKLEY woman who is 92 years old was given the honour of relaunching a Rubery bingo hall after being deemed the ‘longest serving player’ there.

Betty Debuse cut the ribbon as Gala Bingo became Buzz Bingo on Saturday.

She had been going to the hall for 17 years and even longer at its previous location in a former cinema building on the Bristol Road South in Longbridge.

Betty told The Standard: “I love bingo, the new set-up here and even more when I win.

“Anthony Riddell the manager said he had a special job for me to do and then told me he wanted to me help relaunch the place.

“It was good fun. Bingo is a big part of my life.”

Betty goes several times-a-week, sometimes every night, to play her favourite game.

Mr Riddell added: “Betty is our longest serving customer and everyone here knows her.

“To be honest it was pretty easy to know who to choose when it came to relaunching.”

Buzz Bingo is on Rubery’s Great Park.
