REVIEW - The lure of the fine food at the New Inn in Bournheath proved too much

I POPPED along again to visit The New Inn Bournheath, with my two sons last Friday night.

We had visited a few weeks ago while all the restrictions were in place, so it was nice to visit this time and actually go into the pub itself.

Once again the staff were amazing and very friendly, including the owners Sharon and Gary.

The atmosphere inside and outside of the pub with the customers and regulars were welcoming just as last time.

It was still lovely to see the correct procedures in place with the face masks and table service.

Once inside, the aroma from the food being served was irresistible, we were not planning on eating here this time, but the lure of the homemade scotch eggs we had have last time was just to much.

We were not disappointed, the delightful sound of the crispy coating crunching every time it was cut into was music to our ears – the sausage meat casing around the egg was perfectly seasoned and the egg still soft.

Accompanied by a mixed salad with a beautifully flavoured dressing combined all the flavours on a perfectly presented slate plate wonderfully.

One of my sons had the salmon and mash, which he said was perfectly cooked and had flakes of extra salmon running through the mash.

With a plate of flavoursome homemade chilli-loaded fries with jalapeños to share this meal was great value for money.

The chef definitely knew their stuff as it was refreshing to have food served that was seasoned to perfection and didn’t require the plentiful of condiments served in a well presented basket at our table.

I’m so glad we found this pub by chance a few weeks ago, it’s definitely going to be our local from now on.

The New Inn is a warm and friendly country pub set in the beautiful village of Bournheath just outside Bromsgrove.

Gary and Sharon have not long taken over the New Inn from its closure since February of 2020.

Long may they continue with it’s success, it would thoroughly be deserved.
