New Bromsrove Pharmacy 'offers a personal touch and is there for the community'

Bromsgrove Editorial 25th Sep, 2023   0

THE NEW Bromsgrove Pharmacy has opened in the former Lloyds building on New Road after the business was bought out.

And the owner Pardeep Dosanjh, who grew up in Bromsgrove has been a pharmacist for more than ten years, has given the building a complete refit to offer customers and patients the best possible service.

He said: “I decided to rip everything out and start again and it has drastically improved work flow and customer experience.”

Previously in the former pharmacy, wait times were around 20 minutes – now they are down to ten but most customers are in and out within five.

Likewise, the previous prescription turnaround was up to two weeks but the Bromsgrove Pharmacy offers it in around 24 hours.

Pardeep added: “We are getting patients come to us from Rubery and Redditch because of the stock we are able to obtain.”

Pardeep has eight different suppliers which is double the amount of the nearest other pharmacies in the area – they only have four – and some of the supermarket pharmacies only have two.

“This means we can get medication and items a lot quicker than anyone else which is beneficial to our customers.

“We are the only independently owned pharmacy in the whole of Bromsgrove that is owner operated.

“Because this is my business, I’m not just here for the wage – I’m here to look after the community and the people within it.

“We pride ourselves on being a pharmacy with a personal touch – people are not just numbers on a board, they are personal to us.

“Myself and my staff care about the patients and their wellbeing and get to know each one by name.”

As well as cutting wait and prescription times, the new open-plan layout means customers can see everything that goes on there and, Pardeep said, it made him and the other staff members more approachable.

Bromsgrove Pharmacy also offers a variety of services which no other pharmacies in the area does.

Among services offered are treatment for urinary tract infection (for people aged 16 to 64), infected insect bikes, impetigo, infected eczema, flu vaccinations, blood pressure testing, free emergency contraception and repeat prescribing of contraceptives.

Pardeep said: “We have now been getting patient referrals from St John’s, on the other side of town, and even from afar afield as Rubery because of the services we provide.”

Bromsgrove Pharmacy is also the only one which offers automatic repeat ordering of prescriptions – others in the area did offer the service but have now stopped doing it.

The pharmacy is open from 8.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, has free on-site parking and offers a free prescription delivery service on a Friday afternoon for customers unable to get to there or unable to get there during the week.
