Bromsgrove Artrix's Snow White says playing a princess 'is every little girl's dream'

THE ACTRESS playing Snow White in this year’s All and Sundry pantomime said by getting the chance to be a princess on stage she was fulfilling every little girl’s dream.

Speaking ahead of the run at Bromsgrove’s Artrix, Anja Parkes said: “Bagging the role was an absolute honour, my five-year-old self was screaming with delight when I received that email, what little girl doesn’t want to be a real life princess?

“Especially one as iconic as Snow White.

“As a character she is incredibly kind and unfortunately gullible, which makes her easy pray for her Stepmother, but she will go above and beyond for her friends (dwarf and animal alike) and dreams of a life with more freedom to attend Little Mix concerts at will.”

The classic pantomime, directed by Alison Berrisford, will be full of innuendos and double entendre, colourful characters, musical numbers, audience participation and, of course, the iconic UV scene the theatre group has become renowned for.

The story centres on Snow White who is downtrodden by her evil stepmother Queen Drucilla.

The wicked queen is determined to gain the ‘fairest in the land’ title from the magic mirror at any cost.

Anja, who will be making her sixth panto appearance, said she loved the scope of the roles the festive genre offered.

“From ‘Fairy Day’ in Mother Goose to ‘Maid Marian’ in Robin Hood, each one has been more varied than the last with its own challenges.”

The shows will take place at 7pm every day from next Saturday, December 14, to the following Sunday, December 22 (except December 17).

There will also be matinees at 2pm on the Saturdays and Sundays.

For December 16, 18 and 19, tickets are £14.50 for adults (£13.50 concessions) and £47 for a family ticket (two adults and two children or one adult and three children).

The December 14, 15, 21 and 22 shows are £15.50 (£14.50 concessions) and £51 for a family ticket.
