ALVECHURCH remain winless since the turn of the year after Ian Long’s side shipped three goals for the fifth successive game in a 3-1 defeat at St Ives Town.

Tyrell Skeen-Hamilton levelled for Church in the first half to cancel out Tyrone Baker’s opener only for second-half goals from Nabil Shariff and Enoch Andoh to settle the game at Westwood Road.

The result means Alvechurch sit 19th in the Southern League Premier Central table, four points from safety with seven games in hand on the team above them.

And the home side took the lead on 10 minutes as Baker finished beyond Dan Jezeph from Michael Richens’ through ball.

However, Alvechurch restored parity just seven minutes later when Skeen-Hamilton curled the ball into the bottom right corner after from the edge of the penalty area after the referee played a good advantage following a foul on Jed Abbey in the build up.

St Ives restored their lead against the run of play on 66 minutes when substitute Shariff forced the ball home following a goalmouth scramble.

And the hosts sealed the win on 84 minutes when substitute Andoh produced a fine finish from Shariff’s pass after good work from fellow sub Edmund Hottor.

Alvechurch are next in action away at Hednesford Town on Saturday, January 28 with kick-off at 3pm at Keys Park.
