A CAR fire on the M5 between Juntion 4a (M42, Bromsgrove) and Junction 5 (Droitwich) caused traffic chaos during this evening’s rush hour.
It happened on the southbound carriageway around 6.25pm.
Crews from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service and West Mercia Police attended the incident.
After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters dampened down the car and the carriageway.
The motorway was closed for around an hour before two lanes were reopened and another was opened after that.
At one point traffic was backed up for three miles.
Delays are currently around 20 minutes.
Drivers are being urged to allow more time for their journeys.
