Northfield MP Gary Sambrook calls for PM to 'take responsibility' and resign

NORTHFIELD MP Gary Sambrook drew applause from House of Commons MP’s after he called for Prime Minister Boris Johnson to “take responsibility” and resign at Prime Minister’s questions.

Mr Sambrook said that yesterday the Prime Minister blamed other MP’s who were at the Carlton Club for not stopping Chris Pinchers drinking.

He said: “Yesterday in an attempt to boost morale in the tea room the Prime Minister said at a table that there were seven people, MP’s at the Carlton Club last week and that one of them should’ve tried to intervene to stop Chris (Pincher) from drinking so much.

“As if that wasn’t insulting enough to the people that did try and intervene that night, and then also to the victims, that drink was the problem.

“The Prime Minister constantly tries to deflect from the issue, always tries to blame other people for mistakes.

“There is at least nothing left for him to do other than to take responsibility and resign.”

Commons speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle then told off MP’s who clapped following Mr Sambrook’s speech.

Yesterday Mr Johnson apologised for appointing Chris Pincher as Deputy Chief Whip, admitting it was a ‘mistake’ in light of complaints about previous misconduct.

Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid’s resignation as Health Secretary on Tuesday sparked a flurry of MP’s to follow suit and quit their government position.
