Bromsgrove's Artrix vaccination centre offering booster jabs 24/7 between now and Christmas Eve

THE OPERATORS of the vaccination centre at Bromsgrove’s Artrix have announced booster jabs will be available there 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week until around 8pm Christmas Eve.

Following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s announcement on Sunday night about stepping up the vaccine roll-out, SW Healthcare trialed a 24-hour ‘Jab-athon’ between Wednesday night and Thursday morning and it proved so successful it has now extended it.

In that 24 hours, more than 1,500 appointments were taken up and, adding in the number of walk-ins, the figure would be close to 2,000 vaccinations.

A SW Healthcare spokesperson said: “The team here deserve a lot of credit for turning it around and setting it up so quickly.

“As soon as we heard, everyone was on it.

“We only found out about the need at the same time as the public on Sunday night.

“Between 6pm and 8pm in the initial Jab-athon 10 vaccines were being administered every five minutes, it’s an incredible effort.”

People are urged to keep checking if there are none available as appointments are uploaded in batches.

Bromsgrove’s 24/7 booster offering is thought to be the first of its kind in the UK – go to swhealthcare.org.uk/walk-ins for more.
