Man faced walk home from Rednal after police seized £1,800 illegally ridden e-scooter

Bromsgrove Editorial 4th Sep, 2021   0

A MAN had a long walk home after being caught by police riding an illegal e-scooter.

Officers from Worcestershire’s Operational Policing Unit (OPU) seized the £1,800 e-scooter after stopping it in Rednal.

The rider tried to go off-road but the police met him at the other end of the bridleway.

The use of private e-scooters is illegal on public land – only the VOI ones – being trialled under the Government scheme in Birmingham, Redditch and other areas, are permitted.

West Mercia and West Midlands Police have issued countless warnings to people not to buy e-scooters unless they intend to ride them on privately owned land.

The rider caught in Rednal earlier today has been reported for using a vehicle without insurance.

Rider of this £1800 e-scooter on a road in Rednal thought he would try off-roading to avoid being stopped. We just met him at the other end of the bridalway instead! Rider reported for no insurance and scooter seized. 21625/1104 #seized #nicetry #longwalkhome
