Bromsgrove Police issue warning about scam texts received by some residents

Bromsgrove Editorial 24th Jul, 2021   0

BROMSGROVE Police have issued a warning about a text message scam which local residents have been targeted by.

The St John’s Safer Neighbourhood Team has been made aware of the messages which try to get the recipient to click a link and fill in a form.

Some falsely claim there are free theme park entry or restaurant offers.

Some are designed to look like an NHS website which requires passport details and payment.

Officers have warned people not to click the link, fill in any details or make any payments.

They added, whilst the majority of people would recognise it to be a scam text message, it could catch out some people, particularly the vulnerable.

They have urged people to alert their friends and family.
