Tri-hard Boswell reigns supreme again

TRIATHLETE Sam Boswell earned another win at the Upton Triathlon in Worcester last weekend.

Taking on the Olympic distance event, consisting of a 1500m swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run, Boswell admitted that the distances involved in the event initially took her by surprise.

“It’s the shortest triathlon I have raced for some time, and I forget how much speed you need at these shorter distances,” she said.

Starting with the swim in the River Severn, in which she emerged second from the water, Boswell then dropped to third during the transition.

But after recording the fastest bike split, she raced back into second place and maintained her position during the transition for the final leg of the event.

After gaining ground on the leader, Boswell went in front during the third kilometre of the triathlon – a lead she did not surrender for the remainder of the race.

Boswell, who is sponsored by Elliott Nash Ltd, finished three minutes in front as the fastest female to earn her third triumph of the year, after wins at the Hereford Duathlon and Worcester Lakeside Double Triathlon.

It continues a remarkable year for the Bromsgrove triathlete, who has remained successful despite undergoing surgery in January.

She now looks to build on her latest win by continuing to work on her running technique during events in the autumn and winter months.
