Iceland clarifies situation surrounding the Bromsgrove town centre store when Food Warehouse opens

ICELAND has confirmed to The Standard it would not be closing its town centre store when The Food Warehouse opens on the Bromsgrove Retail Park.

We were contacted by residents concerned about the one on Mill Lane closing as, they said, it was very convenient to the bus station and taxi rank.

A spokesperson for the food giant said: “I can confirm that we have no plans to close our Iceland store in Bromsgrove town centre.

“The Food Warehouse offers a much wider range than Iceland, and a very different shopping experience, and the two concepts have proven their ability to trade successfully together in a growing number of towns across the country.”

We reported earlier this month how the line-up for the Bromsgrove Retail Park was nearly complete after it was revealed Home Bargains would be joining The Food Warehouse and Lidl.

There is one remaining unit on the site and talks are ongoing with leisure operators to take the last remaining unit.

The arrival of the stores is part of a £4million redevelopment of the site.

Lidl and Home Bargains are set to open their doors later in the autumn and The Food Warehouse will open its doors on October 30.
