RUBERY’S St Chad’s Church has welcomed a new curate to the parish.

Rev Sean Clancy, 37, will spend three-and-a-half years at the church and comes to the area from Bournville with his wife Marie and children Jonah, four and Zara, nine months.

Keen mountain-biker Sean told The Standard: “People have been lovely.

“The reaction has been so warm and welcoming for both me and my whole family.”

Sean was introduced to the village at the PACT (Partners and Communities Together) meeting last night.

He said he wanted to spend time to see what residents would benefit from and was relishing taking up the new challenge and working on new projects for the people.

The parish of St Chad’s stretches across the Bromsgrove-Birmingham border, with parishoners both sides of the Rubery flyover.

Rev Claire Turner from St Chad’s said: “We are delighted to welcome Sean to the team and are looking forward to his ministry here.”
