Former Austin employees invited to Longbridge reunion

Bromsgrove Editorial 6th Dec, 2017   0

THE ANNUAL reunion of workers from the former Austin Motor Company will be held at Greenlands Social Club in Longbridge from 12.30pm next Friday, December 15.

All former Longbridge employees are welcome to go along and reminisce about their time at the famous factory and the Austin History Roadshow Exhibition will be on display. There will also be members of the exhibition team on hand to answer any questions about the 100 years of Austin history between 1905 and 2005.

One of the aims of the roadshow is to eventually open an Austin Museum featuring the vast collection of information and items amassed over many years.

Keith Woodfield from the roadshow team said: “We really need a permanent museum because the collection is growing all time.

“People have been sending me some fantastic items, information and articles – it really is a unique collection that deserves to take pride of place in Longbridge.

“We have had such a lot of support from the public and the local media.

“We want this history to be left for future generations and particularly Brummies, highlighting the tremendous contributions this company made in two World Wars making everything from small bullets to giant aircraft.”

Anyone wanting more information on the event or the Austin History Roadshow Exhibition on 01905 771870 or 07772 928631.
