AROUND 150 people came together in Catshill for the village’s annual Remembrance Sunday parade and service.

After mustering at the Catshill Club, the parade journeyed to the war memorial on the junction of Meadow Road and Stourbridge Road.

The procession included representatives from a variety of organisations, including the cubs, scouts, beavers and, for the first time this year, the brownies and Army cadets.

The service was led by Rev Anne Smith and featured ministers from a number of Catshill churches.

After prayers and the two-minute silence, more than 20 wreaths were laid by representatives from the community organisations who had gathered.

The music for proceedings was performed by Blackwell Concert Band.

Coun Helen Jones, who is the chairman of Bromsgrove District Council and also represents Catshill, said: “It was a lovely day where the whole village came together to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom.”
