Hundreds attend official Worcestershire Poppy Appeal launch

Bromsgrove Editorial 4th Nov, 2017   0

HUNDREDS of people attended the official Worcestershire Poppy Appeal launch on Saturday, October 28.

It was held at the Guildhall in Worcester and was attended by civic dignatries, including the Mayor of Worcester Coun Steve Mackay, along with former soldiers, cadets and bikes to urge local people to dig deep and support the Royal British Legion (RBL).

A minutes silence was held as poppies were thrown out of the windows at the Guildhall into the courtyard as the poignant ceremony drew to a close.

An army of volunteers will now be out and about selling poppies with all of the donations going towards support for ex-soldiers, dementia care homes, recovery centres and more.

There is now just a week to go until Armistice Day next Saturday and Remembrance Sunday.

Commemorations will be held in Bromsgrove, Droitwich, Rubery and other surrounding villages.
