Bromsgrove Sporting midfielder Robbie Bunn writes for The Standard in his weekly column and reflects on the victory over Rocester.
IT HAS been much more positive around the ground this week with the late win against Highgate United and then bouncing into another home win against Rocester on Saturday.
The lads were massively up for Saturday knowing if we turned up and performed on the day, we would have a great chance of beating Rocester as we had already done so a few weeks ago in the FA Cup.
The boss (Paul Smith) made some changes to the team with the return of a centre midfield three of myself Liam (Spink) and Sammy (Wills) which worked well last season as well as the reintroduction of Johnny Pykett on the right and (Sean) Brain as striker.
We started very brightly, dominating the opening half hour with Pykett offering a constant threat out wide and Brainy causing the two centre backs a world of problems with his pace and movement.
It did not take long for Brainy to get on the scoresheet which gave him a much-needed boost and then fired him on to grab his second goal.
Shortly after the second we were pressuring the Rocester back line again and not long afterwards we found our third as Pykett provided the assist to allow myself to fire in from just outside the box.
We seemed to be in complete control throughout the first-half but a mix-up in the defence allowed Rocester to get one back just before half-time.
After the break we had less control of the game and the visitors got their second with a great finish.
All of a sudden we had let slip a very comfortable position and had a game on our hands.
But Wade (Malley) sealed the win with a clever finish to grab another three points and a 4-2 victory.
We now head into a huge game against Sporting Khalsa on Saturday, a game in which we will need to be right at it to be successful on the day.
