A BRAVE Bromsgrove woman took part in a 12,000 ft skydive in aid of her neighbour who has recently been diagnosed with an extremely rare disease.

Sami Burgess, of Bellbroughton, was touched by the courage of her friend Amie Gough who was diagnosed with Vasculitis and is currently undergoing chemotherapy for the condition which causes inflammation of the blood vessels or organs.

The 26-year-old was inspired by the mum of three, Amie, and how she continued to walk around with a smile on her face despite her cruel diagnosis.

“Due to me crying over a stubbed toe she massively made me realise how brave she is and how this charity needs fund-raising for support.

“I didn’t know anything about the illness until my dear friend was diagnosed and explained how she felt so poorly and I asked her why.

“She is fighting every single second of every single day. I realised how the problems I had now seems so small. She is the bravest lady I know.”

Sami took the plunge on Saturday (August 27) and, as the Standard went to press yesterday (Thursday), there was £1,200 on her JustGiving page for Vasculitis UK.

Residents can still donate by going to www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Samantha-Burgess3 and pledging cash there.
