THE ‘Lace Wars’ living history group will take visitors to Avoncroft Museum this weekend back in time to show them what civilian and military life was like during the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion.
The period saw Scottish Clansmen and French troops fight English Redcoats.
Tomorrow (Saturday) and on Sunday (August 21), visitors will be able to see the action unfold with battles between Redcoats and Jacobites, enrol themselves in ‘sword schools’, tour the living history camps and chat to re-enactors to discover all they need to know.
The members of Lace Wars will shun modern technology during their stay at the museum and will eat, cook and live as they would have done in 1745.
Visitors are welcome to bring dogs on leads and are invited to bring a picnic or visit the museum’s award-winning Edwardian tea room. Go to www.avoncroft.org.uk for more.
