THERE was a double celebration for Beaconside Primary and Nursery School in Rubery after a successful Ofsted inspection and winning the School Games Gold Mark for its commitment to promoting sport.

The OfSTED report, published late last month, stated: “There is a strong, collegiate atmosphere where everyone works hard so pupils and adults can achieve their best. Pupils are excellent ambassadors for the school.”

Headteacher Lorraine Hadley said she was delighted the inspection was an improvement on the last one and recognised the focus at the school.

“It is a real team effort with the leadership team, governors, staff, pupils, and parents all playing an important part.”

She added the school’s School Games Gold Mark exceeded their expectations as they were aiming to get silver.

The drive towards increasing participation and opportunities was led by the PE subject leader Katy Piller.
