VISITORS to Webbs Garden Centre in Wychbold tomorrow (Saturday) will get to see firefighters showcasing their skills.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue service will be staging two challenges between 9am and 5pm for rescuers to win a place in the national UKRO (United Kingdom rescue organisation) challenge 2016.

Nine teams will compete in the trauma challenge, which tests the response of participants to a selection of incidents where they will be expected to identify and treat the injuries.

Twelve teams take part in the road traffic challenge, where they have 20 minutes to save trapped casualties from a simulated crash.

Chief fire officer Nathan Travis said: “These challenges are designed to further enhance the skills of our firefighters.

“The event provides the opportunity for the public to witness their vital lifesaving skills.”

Ed Webb, chairman of Webbs said: “The service has held their event here in previous years and we are delighted to welcome them back.”

Winners from each category will then go forward to the national UKRO challenge in Hampshire this September.
