LOCAL traders met with Bromsgrove District Council representatives on Monday (November 30) for a walkabout in the town centre to see how it could be improved.

Lorita Cornish from Lorita’s Bakehouse, and Claire Brackpool, from Oulsnam, were joined for the stroll along Worcester Road and the High Street by Bromsgrove Place Team Leader Matt Austin.

A number of issues and ideas were discussed, including the possibility of having floral displays or artwork to brighten up the town centre, smartening up shop frontages and signs and putting displays into empty shops.

Lorita, one of the traders who helped launch the town team earlier this year, said: “The businesses who have come forward have been really good, but we need more.”

She added she felt the walkabout on Monday was worthwhile for generating ideas.

“I think we know what the next steps are and what needs to be done and I wish more people would join us.

“It’s about helping the town centre to flourish.”

Claire added: “We have put forward some ideas and now we just need to find out how we can best put them into practice.”
