A SPATE of power tool burglaries in Bromsgrove in the last two weeks has prompted police to put an extra officer on the beat overnight in certain areas of the town.

One barn, on Rocky Lane, in Bournheath, was broken into three times between June and 4.50pm last Tuesday (November 10), when raiders forced open a blocked doorway and smashed off the hasp and staple to gain entry.

Between 10.30pm last Monday (November 9) and 6am the following morning when intruders damaged a garage door on Fairway Drive in Rubery to gain access.

Another victim left their Mercedes Vito Van parked on Worcester road at 6pm last Tuesday (November 10), and when they returned at 7.15pm they saw the car had been broken into via the side door which had been locked.

The latest victim was visiting his mother at Corbett Close and parked his van, a Vauxhall Vivaro, outside at 6.30pm. When he left at 8.30pm the back and side door had been cut into to force entry leaving the side door bent open.

As on each occasion power tools had been stolen and because of the similar time frames, officers believe these incidents to be linked.

Witnesses or anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
