HOSPICE care in Worcestershire has received a £2,000 boost, thanks to a donation from the Worcester Masonic Lodge.

The cash will be split between the Primrose Hospice and St Richard’s Hospice – the charities chosen by The Worshipful Master of Elgar Lodge Mark Taylor.

Mr Taylor and his wife Chrissi, hosted the evening event in April to thank his wife and fellow members’ wives for supporting the Lodge during his year as Master.

These two local charities became close to their hearts after Mark’s dad, Norman Taylor, who had pancreatic cancer, was cared for by the staff at St Richard’s Hospice, and supported by Helen Garfield, CEO of Primrose Hospice, before his death on April 15.

The evening raised £500 for Primrose Hospice, thanks to the generosity of the members of Elgar Lodge, along with other lodges and family and friends who attended. The cash will pay for nine hours of qualified nursing care for Primrose patients.

Mr Taylor said it was not until you saw first hand the individual care offered to the patients and support to their families that you realised what wonderful facilities the hospices offered.
