THE PLAYDAYS Plus 2 Nursery has been given a £1,400 boost by Sainsbury’s Longbridge after being chosen as its charity of the year.

The cash was raised from a number of activities from over the last 12 months, including raffles, a fashion show, a making Christingles event at Christmas and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

Trudy Mansell, Longbridge Sainsbury’s PR ambassador, said: “With our customers’ fantastic help, we have managed to raise the fabulous amount which will go a-long way to helping families with young children.”

The store has also announced its next chosen charity of the year – Autism West Midlands.

The cause will now receive a year of support through fund-raising and awareness raising.

Representatives from the charity joined employees from Sainsbury’s to kick off the campaign with a special event which featured a tabletop sale, face painting and a visit from Mr Tumble.

Natalie Wood, Autism West Midlands’ fund-raising officer, said she was delighted the charity had been chosen, adding she was really looking forward to raising funds and awareness of the cause.

Longbridge Sainsbury’s manager Andy White said the supermarket was looking forward to working with Autism West Midlands and the team had already got some great ideas.
