ANIMAL-lovers are welcome to a special open day being held at a horse and pony rescue centre in Wythall.

The event will take place from midday on Sunday (July 12) at The Animal Healing Trust and Horse Rescue, Seals Green Farm, Icknield Street (B38 0EP).

Among the attractions on the day will be guided tours, Reiki healing techniques, natural horsemanship demonstrations, Indian head massages, raw juices, organic cakes, handmade craft and jewellery stalls and more.

Admission is £3 per adult and £1 per child.

The sanctuary rescues abused, neglected and unwanted horses and ponies, providing them with a new and safe forever home after they have been given up on by others.

Each horse has its own story – Faith was rescued from a laboratory experimentation unit and, after being separated from her foal, Michael, the pair were reunited following the trust finding him.

Another one – Miracle – was rescued from a slaughter truck.

Owner and founder of the rescue sanctuary Sue Gessey said she was looking forward to welcoming visitors and giving them an insight into the work they did there.

Funds for the operation are vital and donations go towards helping the trust continue its good work.
