Weather warning of heavy rain and flash flooding throughout Bromsgrove

A WEATHER warning has been issued by the Met Office for heavy rain, which could lead to flash flooding across Worcestershire.

According to the forecast, rain is expected to continue until 5pm on Saturday with it getting heavy at times.

There could also be lightning and hail in some areas.

Worcestershire County Council has put extra Highways staff, including gully emptiers, on standby to deal with any issues on the roads and to help minimise any potential disruption.

Drivers are being reminded to take care and adapt their driving to the conditions.

Those driving through large puddles or small areas of standing water, should go slowly and steadily and allow oncoming traffic to pass. Motorists should also always test their brakes after leaving the water.

If water has flooded across a section of road it may be difficult to tell exactly how deep it is and drivers, if they come across a road that is flooded, should not attempt to drive through the flood water. This not only has the potential to put themselves and other people in serious danger. It could also damage their vehicle and wreck engines. Visibility can be seriously reduced in heavy rain so headlights must be used, together with allowing a bigger gap between vehicles to allow for the increased stopping distance.

Residents are urged not to take unnecessary risks and to stay safe.
