Phones 4u jobs in Bromsgrove and Northfield saved

TEN JOBS at the two Phones 4u stores in Bromsgrove and Northfield have been saved from the axe by mobile operators.

The Standard reported last week how the positions at the two shops were under threat, along with thousands of others nationwide, when the company went into administration.

But now the appointed administrators PwC has confirmed that Vodafone will take over the Bromsgrove store and EE will take on the Northfield one.

Nationwide, EE will pay £2.5million to acquire 58 Phones 4u stores, preserving 359 jobs. The stores will be re-branded to EE in due course.

It was announced on Friday that Vodafone UK had agreed to take on 140 of the Phones 4u shops, preserving 887 jobs. The stores will be re-branded to Vodafone stores over the coming weeks following a period of transition.

More than 800 staff from the Phones 4u concessions in Dixons Carphone stores up and down the country are also being offered other positions by the firm.
