A PLAYWRIGHT who experiments with traditional forms, texts and audiences will be in the Artrix Studio for the latest event organised by Bromsgrove’s WORDS.
Timberlake Wertenbaker, who will perform at the venue at 7.30pm next Sunday (March 1), is one of the country’s leading contemporary stag writers.
One of her best-known plays, Our Country’s Good, tells the story of a group of convicts and Royal Marines sent to Australia to form one of the first penal colonies there and made a huge impact when it was first produced at the Royal Court Theatre.
As well as having that revived as a ‘modern masterpiece’ by the National Theatre, she also had a new play – Jefferson’s Garden – open there.
Tickets, available by visiting www.artrix.co.uk or by calling 01527 577330, are £12 each or £6 for students.
