THE PRIMROSE Hospice’s Big Appeal, which aims to raise £100,000 in 80 days, has received a massive boost with an anonymous donation of £20,000.

It came after stories featured in The Standard to help launch and raise awareness of the fund-raising drive, which is themed on

‘Around the World for 80 Days of Hospice Care’.

That has been chosen as £100,000 will pay for 80 days of care at the Primrose.

Speaking about the pledge which was made on Monday (July 21), the hospice’s chief executive Helen Garfield said: “We are delighted and humbled by this most generous donation.

“We started to publicise our campaign just two weeks ago and with all the donations received to date we are already nearly a quarter of the way to our target.

“We would like to thank everyone who has donated and everyone who is helping to promote our campaign.”

She said the charity was proud of all the services it delivered to local people and added it was a privilege to work for a service which was so highly regarded in its local community of North Worcestershire.

“We are delighted that the public are getting behind our appeal to ensure we can keep up with the ever increasing demands on our resources.

“In these cash strapped times this is getting harder and harder. Every little really does help”
