STAFF and students from Waseley Hills High School have been collecting food items for festive hampers for the needy.
Headteacher Alan Roll proudly handed over the parcels to representatives from Age UK.
The school has been undertaking the project for a number of years and, as well as collecting items, the pupils have also been designing the packaging for the hampers.
The chairman of Bromsgrove and District Age UK, Sheelagh Keen, said the students’ designs and ideas were amazing and added:
“This contribution to our local community is a wonderful example of caring younger people.
“I would like to thank staff and students and all who contribute for their continued interest.”
This year marks a double celebration for the branch of the charity, which has also opened a new shop on the village’s New Road.
The profits from the shop are invested directly back into services for older people in Rubery, including reasonably priced Help at Home and handyman schemes which assist residents in retaining their independence.
