VISITORS to Avoncroft Museum this weekend will be transported back to medieval England and will be able to experience live jousts.

On both Saturday (June 14) and Sunday (June 15), there will be armoured battles between knights competing on their magnificent steeds for fame and favour.

There will be demonstrations of archery and mounted skills at arms from 11am before children get the chance to take part in bill (a medieval weapon) drills.

Thanks to historic re-enactors setting up their encampment at the venue for the whole weekend, those who go along will also be able to talk to knights, ladies and soldiers to find out more aboul life in medieval times.

And, at 2pm, there will be the re-enactment of the Duke of Somerset’s Last Stand in the museum’s medieval town house.

At the end of each day, there will be archery displays in the windmill camp.

Gates open at 10.30am on both days. Admission is £8.80 for adults and £4.50 for children.
