AN INJURY-ravaged Bromsgrove RFC suffered an agonising 18-17 home defeat against Dudley Kingswinford.

Boars debutant Henry Parsons finished the game with a 12-point individual haul while Rich Hance also crossed for a try at Finstall Park.

And the result means Bromsgrove sit third in the Regional 1 Midlands table after coming away with a losing bonus point.

The Boars named three debutants in their starting line-up while six academy prospects also made their repsective debuts for the club’s second XV.

In muddy conditions, a series of handling errors prevented the game from finding any rhythm.

An early Dudley penalty put the visitors into a three-point lead before Hance crossed for the game’s first try under the posts which Parsons converted.

And Parsons kicked a penalty to stretch Bromsgrove’s lead only for Dudley to respond with their first try of the game as the Boars took a narrow two-point lead into the break.

Dudley kicked a second penalty just two minutes after the interval to turn the game on its head.

However, Parsons chased down Tom Cubitt’s kick and dotted down in the corner before converting from the touchline to restore the home side’s lead.

Dudley then crossed for a converted try of their own to take a one-point lead with neither team able to trouble the scoreboard again in the remaining half-hour.

Bromsgrove are next in action against Silhillians on Friday, February 21 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Finstall Park.
