JAMIE Meddows scored a hat-trick as managerless Bromsgrove Sporting claimed a sensational 8-2 victory against Pershore Town to reach the Worcestershire Senior Cup semi-finals.
Scott Adey-Linforth enjoyed a dream start as Sporting’s interim boss following the departure of Paul Smith with Meddows’ treble supported by a brace from Ryan Boothe and further goals from Reece King, Luke Rowe and Aaron Roberts at the Victoria Ground.
The Rouslers will play either Alvechurch or Stourbridge in the semi-finals of the competition.
Sporting broke the deadlock after just four minutes when Boothe turned home King’s header at a corner from close range.
And the home side doubled their lead on 16 minutes from another corner as King headed in Rowe’s cross to put the Rouslers in command at the break.
Bromsgrove stretched their lead three minutes into the second period as Rowe placed an accurate header into the bottom left corner from Meddows’ cross.
A frantic eight-minute period followed with four goals scored as Meddows saw his deflected shot find the net on 50 minutes.
And Meddows scored his second of the game with a free-kick from 20-yards out two minutes later to all but seal Sporting’s place in the last four.
Hellenic League Premier Division side Pershore responded with a pair of quickfire goals as Ben Tilbury and Zaq Hussain reduced the deficit.
However, Roberts fired home a rebound on 62 minutes to score Sporting’s sixth goal of the night after the Plums kept out Ethan Patterson’s initial header.
The Rouslers made it seven on 70 minutes as Boothe scored his second of the game with a header from close range.
And Meddows completed the scoring with his hat-trick goal in injury time as he flicked home Carter Lycett’s low cross from the left into the bottom right corner.
Bromsgrove are next in action against Barwell on Saturday, November 16 with kick-off at 3pm at the Victoria Ground.
