AN APPEAL has been launched after a cyclist was found lying in the road in Frankley yesterday (Thursday).

Around 4.05pm paramedics spotted the 76-year-old, who was wearing a white helmet and had a black and white bike next to him, on New Street, at the junction of Arden Road.

He had suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Det Sgt Paul Hughes, from West Midlands Police serious collision investigation unit, said: β€œAt this stage we are keeping an open mind as to how this gentleman sustained his injuries.

β€œI am keen to hear from anyone who was in the area around 4pm, in particular anyone who might have dash-cam footage, please get in touch.”

The Standard was contacted by several residents concerned about New Street and Arden Road being cordoned off and a large police presence in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to get in touch via 101, quoting log number 3048 of 30 August, or email SCIU – [email protected].
