'Talks ongoing' to sort out Bromsgrove traveller encampment

Bromsgrove Editorial 20th Jun, 2023 Updated: 20th Jun, 2023   0

WEST Mercia Police have confirmed officers have attended a traveller encampment in Blackwell.

The group – with 40 caravans – arrived last night on land in between the B0496 and Blackwell Road, opposite Burcot Garden Centre.

The police told the Standard the site, accessed by the travellers via an open gate, is owned by several people who were meeting tonight to discuss the ongoing situation.

West Mercia Police has outlined their legal options to remove the encampment and the removal of the site will be managed by the owners.

The force can confirm that officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood Team will conduct regular patrols of the site and are in regular contact with the owners.
