BROMSGROVE Sporting completed their pre-season schedule with victory over West Midlands Premier Division outfit Dudley Sports on Tuesday night.
Luke Corbett got the only goal of the match when he rose above the home defence to head in Reece Hewitt’s second minute corner.
The hosts had two golden opportunities to get level with a couple of fast-breaks up field that caught the Sporting defence by surprise.
But poor finishing and a bit of good fortune for Sporting’s keeper Brendan Bunn preserved the scoreline.
After half-time the game continued in the same vein with Bromsgrove pressuring Dudley but good defending by the home defence caused each move to fail usually in the last ten yards.
Both sides made several substitutions with a number from the visitors playing out of position, but it did look like a factor in Sporting’s ability to increase their lead.
Dudley had a few reasonable chances themselves towards the end, but once again they were wasteful in front of goal and Bromsgrove held on.
The victory followed their 1-0 win over Runcorn Town at the Victoria Ground last Saturday. This time it was Aaron Williams who got the winner when he got a foot to a poor Runcorn back pass that just went past their keeper.
