A NUMBER of promising young Bromsgrove gymnasts showed they were ready to step up to the plate after they claimed a host of medal at a recent competition.

Worcestershire Gymnastics Academy arrived at the West Midlands George Finney Teams Championships with a new squad put together with several new members who had been promoted through the club’s system.

But they all shone at the competition at Fenton Manor in Stoke-on-Trent as six of the teams competed in round three which cultimated in some fantastic results.

The club came back with three golds and three silvers, with u9s advanced mixed, u13s intermediate boys and u9s advanced girls finishing at the top of the podium. Meanwhile, the u9s beginner girls, u11s advanced boys and u11s beginner mixed picked up silver.

There was also success later in the day in rounds four and five where the u9s beginner boys won team gold and in the following round the over 16 intermediate mixed secured top spot.

This resulted in an amazing weekend of very tidy tight routines with possibly the club’s best medal haul to date.
