More success for unstoppable Gandley

ROB GANDLEY recorded his sixth win from seven visits to Alvechurch Fisheries as he swept aside the rest of the field on Saturday.

A total of 22 anglers turned out at the Horseshoe Lake, but no one could stop Gandley who netted 104lbs 10oz – almost twice as much as what his nearest rival, Rob Hodges, achieved.

From peg three, Gandley fished pole at 11mts out in front over two lines with a caster and worm attack throughout to net a number of carp up to 8lbs and boost his final weight with a net of stockies, barbel and ide.

This time it was Hodges (peg 35) who had to settle for the runners up spot as he fished pole and pellet up to the rushes with similar tactics to also net a few carp up to 8lbs and a mixed bag of silvers to weigh 56lbs 6oz.

Warren Beach (peg 36) came third after scoring 47lbs 1oz, while Danny Tresigne (peg 24) finished with 46lbs 12oz, newcomer Tony Sherriff (peg 31) bagged 41lbs 8oz and Trevor Hodges (peg 28) achieved a sixth place finish after getting 39lbs 2oz.

It was a close finish at the top when the scales went round for the Thursday Open, but it was Gandley’s day once again as he retained his winning streak off with a catch of 88lbs 1oz.

Beach came second with 83lbs 15oz, while Rob Taylor and Phill Watts secured one of their best finishes, but it was only enough to clinch third and fourth spots respectively.

Elsewhere, Phil Evans came fifth with 71lbs 15oz ahead of newcomer Pete Mace who got 59lbs 6oz.
